Founded in 1970, the Women’s Recovery Association is a nonprofit agency assisting women, girls and their families with recovery from chemical dependency and its secondary effects.

The agency provides multiple treatment modalities including residential treatment for chemically dependent women; residential treatment for dually diagnosed women; outpatient drug and alcohol treatment for chemically dependent and dually diagnosed women; and outpatient psychotherapy for women and families affected by addiction.

Internship Opportunities

WRA is seeking experienced interns and trainees to join us in offering quality therapeutic services through our residential and outpatient substance abuse treatment programs. The internship year runs from August to August, offering a full year of internship, supervision, and training.

Counselor Internship/Trainee in Practicum

  • Minimum 12 month training program
  • 16-40 hours per week
  • Individual assessment, counseling and treatment planning with both residential and outpatient clients
  • Facilitate 2-3 education and therapeutic groups per week
  • Opportunity to participate in a multi-disciplinary team and collaborate with other professionals

Intern Training and Educational Opportunities

  • Weekly case conference meetings and group supervision
  • Individual supervision as needed
  • Additional training opportunities – both on site and in the community
