WRA Residential Youth and Children Services

Hillside House opened in 1994, and serves 11 women and children. This residence is for pregnant women or women who wish to keep their children with them while in treatment. Children from infancy to 10 years old may reside here.

Tracey’s Place of Hope
This is a unique and vital substance abuse treatment program for girls aged 14 through 17. WRA treats adolescent girls who are dually diagnosed with a mental health issue and a substance abuse problem. The residence opened in January 2001 and serves six adolescent girls who typically stay in the program from six to 18 months.

The structured and nurturing treatment for adolescent girls includes individual and specialized group therapy including art therapy, mental health treatment services, 12-Step meetings, and comprehensive case management.

Treatments include:

  • Individual Therapy
    Get one-on-one talk therapy to explore addiction and mental health issues.
  • Recovery Group
    Investigate core treatment issues based on 12-Step principles.
  • Family Therapy
    Assistance for parents/family members using discussion, exploration of related issues, and therapy.
  • Family Issues Therapy
    Group for girls whose parents/family members are not available to participate in Family Therapy.
  • Psycho-education Group
    Provides education on issues such as eating disorders, depression, sexual abuse, sexually transmitted diseases, mental illness, and violence prevention.
  • 12-Step Meeting
    A drug/alcohol addiction meeting based on the 12-Step principles. This is a female-only meeting open to members of the outside community.
  • Community Meeting Group
  • A therapeutic group used to explore and address issues arising from the day-to-day living situation at the residence.
  • Therapeutic Journaling Group
    Get direction in the therapeutic benefits of writing a journal. Experience the self-discovery that comes with translating thoughts to words, and writing what's in your heart and mind.
  • Social Issues Group
    Explore communication and interpersonal issues. Get educated on living within societal structures and developing healthy boundaries.
  • Living Skills Group
    Get educated on practical skills such as cleaning, cooking, shopping, grooming, etc.
It is reported that more than 90% of adults in the U.S. with current substance use disorders started using before age 18; half of those began before age 15.
